The Art of Gathering Inspiration
As a self proclaimed dreamer and inspiration gatherer, I spend hours and hours at night searching through Pinterest. Fake shopping, pinning and saving for my someday/one day. Instagram is much the same. I have more bookmarked Instagram posts than I can count. And as the colder months approach I find myself preparing for the pinning and bookmarking season. Is that a thing? Because if it’s not let me be the first to declare it so. This is my PSL, and let me be completely honest I’ve never had one of these coveted Fall treats. Sorry to offend any of my readers who partake in this Fall tradition.
Let’s set the scene: it’s 8:30pm. Hopefully your kiddo has finally fallen asleep. You’ve cleaned up after dinner. Here is where I would say you change into your most comfy PJ's but maybe it’s safe to assume that since it's pandemic times and you're a parent you haven’t changed out of your PJ's in the first place? Please tell me I’m not the only one. If you have then good for you and, please, tell me how you keep motivated. Next, you dim the bedroom lights, climb into bed, turn on your favorite “don’t really have to watch the show to know what’s going on in the show” show and open your device and start collecting. If you are lucky enough to have more than one device, I say "the more the merrier!" Pinterest and Instagram at the same time!
Being the mother of a two year old this is my most coveted time of day. And while every night isn’t like that, it’s really, REALLY nice when it is. There may or may not even be popcorn and/or dessert involved. In bed. There’s no judgment on inspiration nights. As a creative person I can’t tell you how important it is to me to stay inspired by all facets of the creative world. The DIY’ers, home renovators, culinary artists, crafters, and gardeners. From discovering new artists, new techniques, new materials and, as of late, studio spaces. Gathering and gleaning useful inspiration only fuels my fire to create. To speak to this need for inspiration I created a Pinterest account just for Cast & Pressed. I hope you follow along there as well for continued inspiration. Fuel that fire because the cold months can be long and hard and I can promise you it’s a welcome distraction that will cost you nothing and will gain you much.
So go ahead, fall down that dark rabbit hole of inspiration gathering. I hope that it gets your mind ready to make and create something new. Do you use Pinterest and Instagram as a means of gathering inspiration? What other ways do you gather inspiration?
Be Well Friends,
Lindsey
